How bamboo can help rebuild the lives of displaced people.

Every year, natural disasters and civil conflicts cause mass movements of displaced persons that put extreme pressure on local economies and natural resources. Thousands of people arrive in their new location with an immediate need for shelter, water, medicine, fuel for cooking and heating and a range of basic needs for their new temporary households. These temporary camps often grow into permanent communities – new settlements popping out of nowhere without proper services, sanitation, electricity or economic activity to serve several hundred thousand inhabitants.

This factsheet explains how bamboo can help.
